La Garra is one of our most significant wines at Bodegas Piedemonte as it combines the essence of our territory by being made with the combination of two of our most iconic / representative varieties of the
region of Navarra: Tempranillo & Garnacha.
"La Garra" comes from a typical colloquial expression (Tener garra!) which is attributed to a person or thing that exerts a strong power of attraction, that has great strength and determination. During the last harvest, one of our winegrowers - who talks about his vines with as much care as if they were people - told us when we were carrying out the ripening controls prior to the harvest: "This vineyard has a lot of grit!
We were struck by the vigour and strength of these plots; the expression made us smile as we imagined the great wines that could be made from these vigorous vines.
